Thank you for your interest in leading Art Space. We are the only arts-based service learning group at BUSM. Traditionally, we have partnered with community organizations like Heart Inc (assisted living homes) and Boston Healthcare for the Homeless to engage in arts and crafts activities with the residents and patients. The mission of our organization is to empower our community through creativity and the arts.

This year, we piloted the SICU Garden Project in the Surgical ICU at BMC. We partnered with the SICU care team to distribute art kits and coloring pages to patient rooms/waiting areas, and showcase completed artworks and encouragement notes on a dedicated display wall in the unit. This project has received funding from Innovate@BU.

Our short-term goals are to:
(1) build a sustainable QI model (https://www.bucme.org/QIHUBTemplates)
(2) collect publishable outcomes data from the SICU pilot

The long-term goal is to expand this project to other departments of BMC.
