your name
Which course are you interested in implementing an alternative grading system in?
What is the point of your course? What do you want students to get out of it?
Let’s say a student in your course gets an A. What does that mean?
(Don't tell me "that means the student got 85%" -- what *do you want* an A to mean?)
Same question, but with a grade of C.
Same question, but with a grade of B.
(This is the hardest one!)
Try to write down some concrete skills students should acquire in order to successfully complete your course.
Try to write down some concrete deliverables (e.g., lab report, white paper, proof) your students will create during the course.
If that deliverable were out in the “real world” (e.g. engineering firm, graduate school), how would it be judged? What are the standards?
A copy of your responses will be emailed to the address you provided.
