UnConference Participant Application 2022
We are calling for participants for the Disability Studies and Action Collaborative's UnConference, which will be held on Saturday and Sunday, October 22nd and 23rd, 2022. This event is hosted by the WWU Institute for Critical Disability Studies.

All are welcome to apply, though space is limited. We are particularly interested in making this a space where artists, students, scholars, entrepreneurs, and workers can gather to address problems and develop innovative ideas relevant to our local and global communities. We wish to represent the intersectionality of disability experiences and to promote conversations focused on justice and universal access. We welcome especially participants who have disabilities.

The UnConference is a two-day event with two distinct parts.

Saturday, October 22nd will focus on interdisciplinary working groups, which will be comprised of students, scholars, academic faculty and staff, and community members who will work together to discuss a shared concern and work collaboratively on an original project. These working groups will be facilitated by an UnConference moderator with the aim of producing some kind of actionable project or idea at the end of the day.

Sunday, October 23rd will focus on presentations, round-tables, panels, and topic-based discussions. Participants will be grouped into panels featuring talks (live or pre-recorded) ranging from 5 to 20 minutes.

Applications received by Friday, August 5th 2022 will receive priority consideration and first choice in presentation time. Final applications are due August 12th, 2022.

If you have any questions, please contact the organizers at icds.unconference@wwu2.onmicrosoft.com

Modality and Access
Access and Universal Design Principles at the UnConference
We are designing this event to be as accessible to as many people as possible. Consider all of the parts of the event and let us know which parts, if any, may need some special consideration for you. The UnConference will include the following:
- Several 60-minute workshop sessions where you discuss and work in small groups
- Several 60-minute presentation sessions where you will be audience members for others' presentations
- One presentation session where you will be presenting your own work either in real time or via a recorded presentation alongside other presenters
- Several meals provided by the UnConference

All workshops and presentations are available for in-person participation or remote participation via Zoom. There will also be space provided for ADA-accessible bathrooms, gender neutral bathrooms, a lactation room, and a low-sensory room. ASL interpretation and/or live transcription will be available on request.
