SUITS, or Spacesuit User Interface Technologies for Students is an annual challenge hosted by NASA to build AR software prototypes that can help improve autonomy, spatial awareness, communication and navigation for astronauts on EVA’s. In answer to this challenge, our team has spent the last four years developing ARSIS (Augmented Reality Space Informatics System) which leverages Augmented and Virtual Reality to create a telepresence communication system between the astronaut and mission control.
