Pollution Pods is coming to Brownsea Island 25 – 29 October 2019, as an Inside Out Dorset signature event, produced by Activate Performing Arts, in conjunction with Cape Farewell, an artist-led organisation using culture to change how people think about climate change.  

Michael Pinsky’s unique outdoor immersive installation of five interlinked geodesic domes take the visitor on a fascinating journey through pollution from across the world as each climate-controlled pod recreate the air quality, smell and temperatures from five major cities– Tautra, London, Beijing, Sao Paulo and New Delhi.   Pollution Pods have been touring internationally, where they have been experienced by over 30,000 people.

We are looking for enthusiastic, friendly volunteers to help with Pollution Pods in two capacities:

Build Volunteers to assist the Pollution Pods technical team during the artworks 3 day build and dismantling.  This will involve working on building the geodesic domes  and would suit people with some practical skills, able to lift and move equipment and happy working outside for long days.  

Visitor Facilitators to assist the production team in managing visitors, crowd flow and enquiries during the opening Hours of Pollution Pods.  This will involve relaying information to visitors, helping to ensure a positive experience for all.  Suitable for anyone who enjoys interacting with visitors with a calm, friendly approach and happy working outside in all weathers, with periods of standing.
