Understanding the willingness to purchase microtransactions in video games

Dear Participants,

My name is Rahul Vedamitra Kotian and I am an MBA student at the School of Business and Economics at Maastricht University in association with the Maastricht School of Management. I am conducting research on "The impact of the pandemic on microtransactions and the video game industry".

Microtransactions are purchases that can be made within a game that give you access to special content. The content that can be unlocked is specific to the game that is being played.

Examples of microtransactions would be the purchase of downloadable content, the purchase of in-game currency which can be used to buy content, the direct purchase of cosmetic items (special characters, clothes and ather personalisation options), paying to continue playing a game or to skip ads, etc.

The primary objective of this study is to better understand the factors that influence the willingness to purchase microtransactions after the increase in number of gamers and number of existing gamers who increased time spent on video games after the pandemic. Your participation in this study is highly appreciated, but it is entirely voluntary, and not obligatory. If you are someone who has purchased microtransactions in the past, plan to purchase microtransactions in the future, or someone who plays video games (any gaming device like mobile, PC and console) I kindly request your assistance in completing this questionnaire that will provide essential data for my research.

The questionnaire will take approximately 4 minutes to complete. Please feel free to express your opinions, knowledge, and ideas, as there are no right or wrong answers. All responses will be kept strictly confidential, and your personal information will remain anonymous throughout the research process.
