Mobile Coop Field Workshop at UC Davis
Welcome to the registration page! the integrated poultry-vegetable production mobile coop field workshop will take place on February 29, 2024 at the UC Davis Student Farm * at 1:30-3:30 pm Pacific, right before the Yolo-Solano CAFF Small Farms Conference Regional Gathering (We encourage farmers to consider attending both events!)

The purpose of this workshop and future extension and education events  is to support beginning and aspiring farmers to grow their operation in pastured poultry production, organic vegetable crop production, and particularly integrated poultry and crop production.

The registration cost is free!

Join us to:
  • Learn about the field trial at UC Davis to study poultry-vegetable integrated farming.
  • Learn about the setup and operation of mobile chicken coops (aka “chicken tractors”) in pastured and integrated poultry farming systems.
  • Get mobile coop building plans and designs that you can build yourself.
  • Get a secondhand chicken tractor! (see the giveaway rules here)

This field day is offered as part of the project titled: "Two Strong Wings, Cover Crops & Veggies: Developing the Next Generation of Integrative Farmers in California, Iowa and Kentucky" funded under the USDA Beginning Farmer and Rancher Development Program. It is a partnership between the University of California, Davis, Iowa State University, University of Kentucky and the National Center for Appropriate Technology.

*Note: Meeting point, parking, and ADA accessibility details will be made avaialble to registrants as the event nears.
