Swimming Lessons Registration
Swimming lessons are kicking off Big Sandy Water Institute 2021!
Michelle Kennedy, Water Safety Instructor brings years of experience as a swimmer and teacher. Please bring your own towel to class as towels will not be provided.
Fee: $65/person no more than $160/family payable to ISD #4 Community Education
Location: Located at a combination of Big Sandy Lodge & Resort and Sandy Lake Recreation Area. See specific classes for location information below.

Transportation is not provided for this activity. We ask that if indoors for lessons, parents remain outside the pool area for social distancing purposes unless otherwise asked by the instructor.

Monday - Friday, June 7-11
(Level 1 students will be tested the first day to determine if child is a tadpole or leapfrog)
8:00 am-Level 1 Tadpoles: (Big Sandy Lodge Pool) Water Exploration
9:00am-Level 1 Leapfrogs: (Big Sandy Lodge Pool) Students must be 6 years old. Introduction to water skills; helps students feel comfortable in the water and to enjoy the water safely.
10:00am -Level 2: (Big Sandy Lodge Pool) Fundamental Aquatic Skills; builds on the skills learned in Level 1 and gives participants success with fundamental skills such as floating and basic locomotion.
11:00am - Tot Lessons (ages 3 - 6 years old): (Big Sandy Lodge Pool) Introduce your little one to water as certified water safety instructor and lifeguard spend time with you and your child in the pool. Your child will learn how to splash, blow bubbles, paddle all while gaining confidence in the water.

Monday - Friday, June 21-25
8:00am-Level 5: (Big Sandy Lodge Pool) Stroke refinement:provides further coordination and refinement of strokes.
9:00am-Level 6: (Big Sandy Lodge Pool) Swimming and skill proficiency;refines the strokes so participants swim them with ease, efficiency, power and smoothness over greater distances.
10:30am-Level 3: (Sandy Lake Rec Area) Stroke Development: builds on the skills in Level 2 through additional guided practice in deeper waters.
11:30am-Level 4: (Sandy Lake Rec Area) Stroke Improvement: develops confidence in the skills learned and improves other aquatic skills.
