Date and time: Thursday, September 9 from 10:30-Noon
Connecting eligible low-income families to DTA benefits is a key way to ensure families can meet basic needs. This information is critical as an estimated 300,000 workers in Massachusetts will lose all of their unemployment benefits September 4 (when federal COVID unemployment benefits PUA, PEUC, and FPUC sunset).
Join Lizbeth Ginsburg from Greater Boston Legal Services and Vicky Negus from the Massachusetts Law Reform Institute to learn about DTA's benefit programs - with a focus on SNAP food assistance and TAFDC cash assistance for families and pregnant women.
This free training is geared at community advocates, legal services, the emergency food delivery system, social workers, health care providers, and others who work with low-income households and communities. Recipients and low-income households are also welcome.
We will cover:
1. How to apply and basic rules for SNAP and TAFDC
2. EBT cards - how to get, how to use, and household rights
3. Access and protections for specific populations: immigrants, domestic violence survivors, people with limited English proficiency, and people with disabilities
4. Overview of other resources such as subsidized child care, EAEDC, the Child Tax Credit, etc.
