KIPP CHARLOTTE Bus Transportation Form               **For 2023-2024 School Year**
Please complete the transportation request form ONLY if your child is needing bus transportation for the 2023-2024 School year. Please complete a form for EACH child needing bus transportation.

* Please remember that we ask all parents and/or guardians to be at the bus stop at least 10 minutes ahead of scheduled arrival and departure time.

* Children in grades K- 5th MUST have a parent/guardian at the bus stop in the morning and in the afternoons to receive their student. If the parent/guardian is not at the bus stop the child(ren) will be taken back to the school and the parent/guardian will have to go to the school and pick them up.  There are no waivers to this policy. Parents cannot provide permission to the bus company, to the bus driver, or to the school to let a K-5 student off without a parent/guardian present. Please note that riding privileges may be suspended or revoked if parents are not consistently at their scheduled stop to gather their student. Advance notice must be provided to the school and to Olympic Transportation if someone else is picking up the student at the stop in the afternoon.  K-5 students are permitted to offload the bus with a sibling who is in grades 6th-8th.

* Filling out this form does not guarantee a seat on the bus. Space on the bus is limited and will be filled on a first come, first served basis. Once the bus is full, additional riders will be placed on a wait list.  Seats do not roll over from year to year; this form must be filled out yearly.

*All bus stops will be at central locations or after care facilities. No door to door or home stops will be made.

*Students are not permitted to ride different buses in the morning and afternoon. Students must ride the same bus both AM and PM.  If there is a special circumstance, please reach out to Olympic Transportation to discuss.

*Once the sign up period has ended, if your student gets assigned to a bus, you will receive notification from Olympic Transportation.  You will also be asked to read and sign the behavior expectation policy (bus rules) as a condition of ridership.

We are really excited to be a part of the KIPP Charlotte Family and look forward to creating a strong partnership with you, your students and school admin.  Let's get ready for 23-24 and beyond!

Students MAY NOT use two different buses to get to and from school. If there are custodial arrangements, parents must agree on one stop that both parents will utilize. *
It is the school's policy that no child in Kindergarten through 5th grade is allowed to leave a bus without an adult guardian or older sibling to meet the child. Parents or guardians should wait for the child at the stop where they can be seen and not wait in cars or in stores. The driver will not release a K-5 student unless they can see the parent or guardian at the stop. Parents/guardians are asked to wait on the right side of the bus so the student will not be required to cross in front of the bus or behind it alone. In the event that an adult guardian is not waiting for the child at the bus stop, the child will be returned to the school and the parents or emergency contact will be notified. If a parent, legal guardian, or authorized adult cannot be reached by 5:00 p.m., the police will be notified. *
Please choose ONE bus stop (Students will not be allowed to ride a different bus other than the one chosen). TAKE A LOOK AT THE ATTACHED LINK THAT HAS A MAP WITH THE PROPOSED STOPS if you need to find what works best for you. Enter your address in the search bar to find the closest stop to your home. https://www.pinmaps.net/map/214403/rideolympic

The actual bus route may be different this year. You will be notified which bus your student will ride (or if they are on the waitlist) before the start of the school year. Please email contact@olympictransportation.net with any questions.

I understand that I should arrive 10 minutes prior to stop time. Bus may arrive up to 5 minutes early. The bus will not wait for students who are not at the stop when the bus arrives.

I understand that bus rider expectations (bus rules) are a condition of ridership. I agree that if my student is assigned to a bus, we will review and acknowledge the bus rules in order to secure our seat on the bus.
