https://drive.google.com/file/d/1TAKwpiS0Jwja1cIdt9kvm5CI11OXz_b0/view?usp=sharingIn order to support a just transition for fossil-fuel impacted communities, this bill adds requirements for owners of carbon-emitting power plants to provide regular facility retirement study reports to localities and state agencies and to require that power plant owners provide notice of closure within 14 days of making a decision to close a plant. The bill patrons and co-patrons include Delegate Subramanyam, Senator Deeds, and Senator Favola.
The Commonwealth must support communities throughout the transition away from carbon-emitting electricity resources; this legislation is the first step to fulfilling that responsibility.
