The Colorado Department of Education is releasing Draft Colorado Alternate (CoAlt) Science Assessment Frameworks for public comment. Concepts and skills explicitly identified in the Extended Evidence Outcomes of the Colorado Academic Standards (CAS) are the basis for the CoAlt assessments, the state’s end-of-year assessments for students with the most significant cognitive disabilities. CoAlt science assessment frameworks list the target percentage representation and target number of score points for each reporting category and standards area that appear on the CoAlt assessments. The relative weight across reporting categories is based on the number and depth of the Extended Evidence Outcomes within the reporting category. The assessment framework targets that are currently available for review will be reflected in the CoAlt science assessments beginning in spring 2023.
Prior to completing the survey, respondents should review the Draft CoAlt Science Assessment Frameworks. Having the frameworks available (links below) while completing the survey will be helpful.
