General Behaviour

All Members, including Coordinators, must:

Adhere to the rules of the game of hockey.
Refrain from any behaviour that may bring Ottawa Pride Hockey or a Member into disrepute.
Read and sign Ottawa Pride Hockey’s waiver.
Provide a safe environment, both physically and psychologically. This includes refraining from sharing traumatic information with team members without explicit consent from the receiver.
Interact with others respectfully, including during a possible conflict situation.
Be a positive representation of Ottawa Pride Hockey during and outside of league activities.
Avoid and not partake in any unacceptable behaviour both on and off the ice. Any instances are considered to be a breach in the Code of Conduct. Examples include:

Malicious gossip
Personal insults and/or deliberate disrespect towards others
Racism, transphobia, homophobia, ableism, classism, or any other form of discrimination of any kind
Deliberate or continued misgendering
Harassment, including intimidation
Bullying/Victimization
Verbal and physical assault

When using the changeroom, change discreetly and respect others' privacy.
Adhere to facility rules and regulations, including no alcohol, vaping or smoking in changerooms.
Read and understand the Code of Conduct, including any possible repercussions should they breach the Code of Conduct.

Player Behaviour

All players must:

Respect fellow players, coaches, officials and spectators, no matter the skill level.
Be honest with the Coordinators concerning illness and injury and their physical limits within the game.
Conduct themselves with appropriate, respectful behaviour.
Abide by the rules of the activity including drop-in rules and league play rules.
Play with proper sportsmanlike behaviour such as being a team player, passing frequently, adjusting play level to ensure all players on ice are included, encouraging teammates, etc.
Contribute to a safe environment both on and off the ice, physically and emotionally. Examples include but are not limited to avoiding taking slap shots within traffic, keeping shots low, using a neutral voice vs yelling, etc.
Cooperate with Coordinators and any other leadership.
Contribute to a positive, supportive, and inclusive atmosphere.
Respect the physical and psychological well being of others and themselves.

Public Conduct

All Members must represent Ottawa Pride Hockey positively during league events. This includes at public events, where Members must refrain from making comment regarding:

Personal opinions that would reflect negatively upon the member themselves or the league.
Personal or political beliefs that conflict with the League’s values.
Making decisions on behalf of the league, without prior consensus and permission from appropriate individuals or league representatives.

All Ottawa Pride Hockey events must be approved by league Coordinators. Under no circumstance are any Ottawa Pride Hockey (aka Ottawa Otters) events to occur without consulting the league Coordinators and will be considered a breach of this Code of Conduct if done.

All possible sponsorship requests must be directed to the league Coordinators, who are the only responsible party who may approve any sponsorship offer. No sponsor with conflicting values to those in this Code of Conduct may be approved.

All complaints, concerns, and/or feedback about game play, individual behaviour, facilities used, etc. are to be brought straight to the league Coordinators. Members are not to address issues on behalf of the league.

All media requests regarding Ottawa Pride Hockey are to be directed to league Coordinators. Members are not to address the media regarding Ottawa Pride Hockey without approval by league Coordinators.
