Kayak Cross - Proposal 1

The Time Trials become an event itself in Men and Women => called Sprint cross or NEW NAME

This event can be used a selection process to reach the elimination phase of Kayak Cross but it can be also run independently. As now, maximum 10 gates can be used but some features on the river/course are usable to define the course (left or right of a rock for instance).

Sprint cross will be integrated to Level 1 competition, and could be run at Level 2, 3 and 4 competition.

The NF can enter only 3 athletes per NF in Kayak Cross at the Level 2 competitions

At Level 1 competition the universality rules is kept (20 +12) / 3 entries per NF

At Level 2 competition the universality rule is abandoned

The Kayak Cross boats must still be registered on the ICF list.
The list is updated twice a year (1
st of January and 1st of July)

Note for the Olympic, only boat registered at the begin of the year (1st of January) will be authorized

The Kayak Cross is still run at the same time as the Canoe Slalom events at Level 1 and Level 2 competitions

The width of the gates is standardized to 140 cm

The 4 team events ( 3xMK1 / 3xMC1 / 3xWK1/ 3xWC1) are replaced by one mixed Team event.

New team event format = 2 athletes (male and female mandatory) from the same NF (1 canoe and 1 kayak), competing together on the course

1 team per Nation

Consider the implementation of “Team Gates” where the two Athletes need to pass within 5 or 10 seconds of each other

Implementation of Sprint (Speed) Slalom see rule 20.1.

Format = Half or the requirements of a Canoe & Kayak Slalom format (Between 9 and 12 gates with maximum 4 upgates), run on a shorter distance.

This event is integrated at the Level 1 competition.

It could be integrated at Level 2, Level 3 and Level 4 competitions
