ECO is run by a veteran unschool parent and therefore we understand that children can be very knowledgeable in particular subjects, despite their age/grade level. So the ages/grades listed for each class are recommendations and we trust that you know what content level your child(ren) can handle. So we ultimately leave the class selection up to the parents to decide. If you are unsure about which class would be best for your child(ren) please reach out to us via text, phone or email.
Enrolled children should have a passion for the outdoors, be open to new experiences and be willing to participate in all activities (lots of hands-on learning activities, orienteering, lighting fire, etc.) Children with special needs are always welcome and we will make any necessary accommodations to make sure they can participate fully. We have an additional form (which is optional) that we will send to those who indicate their child has a medical/learning/behavior condition, where you can further explain how we can best assist/accommodate your child.
After we receive your registration and payment we will send you a registration confirmation within 48 hours via email, which will include a link to join our secret Google Classroom group (you will only remain in the group for as long as your child(ren) is registered in the class). We will share additional resources, updates about what your child(ren) is learning and photos of our experiences during the class in this virtual space. It is also a good place for you to ask any questions you may have and communicate with other parents. This email confirmation will also include a schedule, the educator's contact information and other important information.
