Stockyard Sale Information & Consignment Form
This Sale combines the numbers of multiple producers to make full, marketable load lots! Consign your calves, no matter how many, from 2 head to 200! ConneXion will group cattle by size and kind from multiple producers, sorting the consignments up into truck load lots. These Lots will sell prior to delivery of the cattle to Our Online Network of Buyers! Pooling numbers gives every seller an opportunity to forward contract calves with the marketing power of the big ranches!

By essentially making a calf pool, ConneXion gives you more marketing power and finally connects you with a network of buyers!

Here's how it works...
1. Sellers consign their cattle to Montana Cattle ConneXion.com (this form)
2. After receiving information, ConneXion team will sort cattle into bigger groups to help them sell best.
3. Cattle will be grouped by delivery location, estimated weight, and by any other means ConneXion deems best to market them to their fullest potential.
4. An average weight based on all the cattle within a lot will determine a Base Contract Weight. Sellers will be notified of which lots their cattle have been put into. One individual may potentially have cattle that sell in several different lots and therefore will receive more than one base weight and contract. (Further diversifying risk and increasing value!)
5. Cattle will sell unreserved on ConneXion's October 14th - Online Stockyard Sale! This sale is online only, selling in a Click-to-Bid auction (Just like eBay)
6. No Physical cattle will be present on sale day. They will sell for a contracted price. All sellers will receive a contract. There will be a price slide to account for calves coming in heavier than the contracted base weight.
7. On the Specified Delivery Date, Sellers will deliver their cattle to their chosen shipping point. Calves will be unloaded, sorted for size and weighed immediately.
8. Your price will be slightly adjusted based on your actual receiving weights but unaffected by other producers. (Slide explanation below in the form)
9. After All the Cattle have arrived, Trucks will load and depart for their destination!
10. Payments will be mailed immediately after delivery!
11. Sales Commission is 2% plus Brand & Health Inspection Fees.

BUT to do this we need your help.... We need the most accurate information you can give us about your cattle so we can make matches for your cattle and find the buyers who will find the most value. Also, Spread the Word! tell your friends and neighbors to help build a good offering of cattle and earn some real value in your marketing program!

Cattle Description
Please Describe the Kind, Color, Head Count, and Estimated Weights as of the Intended Shipping Date.

Note: ConneXion is working to create more value for all producers, we want to help sell the best cattle for the best price! ConneXion may give a producer the option to pull their consignment if the cattle do not match up with a bigger group or don't fit the other kinds of cattle being marketed. However the producer may have the option to sell their cattle as a separate group which still may be beneficial in marketing because they may help to fill another load.

EG. Holsteins, or Roping cattle won't fit with the typical beef cattle Montana is known for and would drastically affect other producers in regards to price if we chose to keep them on. However, we may be able to sell them in their own group as one package.

NOTE: On Shipping Day, ConneXion Reps reserve the right to reject any cattle that don't meet quality standards, contract specs or don't fit within the weight threshold (+/- 15% off Average Weight).
Any Lame, blind, loco, blemished, bulls, horns, severely frozen ears/tails may be rejected.
Breeds/Color Percentage
Please describe the Breed & Color breakdown of the cattle to sell: exact numbers are ideal but percentage estimates are ok. (eg. 90% Black Angus/BWF 10% Red/RWF) (Commonly Used: Black, Red, BWF Black White Face, RWF Red White Face, Baldy/Brockle, CharX, SimX, Hereford)

Weights & Head Counts
List Weights & Head Counts for your calves.
Try to break them up into 2 groups of steers and 2 groups of heifers but don't single out any. Usually you'll have about 66-75% in the top group and 25-33% of younger, lighter calves. Sometimes a 50/50 split.

If you have any past information like sale barn weigh tickets from years past, use that info to gauge your estimated weights. If you have one little orphan calf, it is probably best to leave him home. 350-400 lb calves will get pinched on price and most likely rejected for the loads we are helping put together.
Number of Steers (Heavy End)
Estimated Steer Weight (Heavy End)
Use averages over years past or sale barn tickets to estimate your weights. ALSO, it never hurts to get a test weight if you know someone with a scale. Calves generally gain about 2.25 lbs per day in October while on the cow.
Number of Steers (Light End)
Estimated Steer Weight (Light End)
Heifer Calves
If you keep some big replacement heifers or have just a handful, you can input them into just one group. If total heifer consignments are lower than steers, we may combine both light and Heavy sets into one group.
Number of Heifers (Heavy End)

Slide Information
The Slide is a system used to adjust the Final Price of Cattle based on the Final Weight of the cattle. This is a system which ensures the fairness of a deal. Cattle coming in heavier than the contract still bring in more dollars per head than the original base weights but maintain market price.

Cattle coming in light have no slide or price adjustments. Final WT x Contract Price. Light cattle will take longer to feed, and most likely hit the market the feeder had planned to get them into.

It is better to be a little too heavy than too light.

TRADITIONAL OVER SLIDE: Traditional Price Slide for adjusting price based on Final weight of the cattle. Adjusts Price down to coincide with market prices.

EG. Calves are Contracted at $150.00 CWT with $0.12 slide over 600 lbs ($900 per head).
The actual weight is 620 at delivery.
Price is adjusted by $.12 by 20 lbs = $2.40 CWT. So, 150.00-2.40 =
$147.60 Final Price on 620 lbs. ($915.12) per head

Pricing Information
Below is a table of Expected Prices for the most calf weight ranges. Cattle may be +/- $5 cwt above or below these prices depending on vaccine program, distance from the 5-area feeding region, kind and quality.
Price Estimates as of Sep, 21, 2020. Prices of cattle purchased in Montana can range +/- $5 cwt on either side of these projected prices.
