Application for Trauma-informed Teaching Community of Practice
With support from Bringing Theory to Practice, the Luce Foundation, and the Endeavor Foundation, PHENND will offer a three-part series for educators in the Philadelphia region, to collectively learn about trauma, how it manifests itself in classroom settings, and how to change teaching practice to incorporate this knowledge. Participants will learn from a combination of guided facilitation, small reading assignments, and their own reflections on their teaching practice (as well as the shared reflections of others).

We hope to engage educators at various levels (K-12, higher education, community-based) with varying degrees of experience with trauma-informed practice.  Participants with more experience will be grouped to discuss taking the work "to the next level" by bringing not just trauma-informed, but "healing centered," approaches back to their respective institutions/schools/organizations.

We plan to run four cohorts of 20 participants each over the course of the coming academic year. Participants should expect each of the three sessions to take 90-120 minutes with brief amounts of homework/reading in between sessions. Each cohort will create their own schedule to provide maximum flexibility and accommodate the variation in participants' available times with the understanding that they will generally be held in late August, early November and early January. That said, there will be a joint, large group kick-off on Tuesday, August 10th, at 3 PM over Zoom.  We hope to be able to do a final, in-person closing in late Spring 2022.

Cost to participate in the three-part series is $100 (total).  A large number of scholarships are available so do not let cost be a barrier to your application.  Finally, we encourage teams of educators from the same institution/school/organization to participate.  We are happy to negotiate group rates. Note: no payment is expected at this time.

Please apply by May 31st.  Your application will be reviewed and acceptances will be sent by June 30th.
