North High School Career & College: Buddy Program (Law Volunteer Sign-up)
What is it?
• The Buddy Program (TBP) is a pilot program that offers individualized career & college support for North High School (NHS) students from law students attending one of the Twin Cities law schools.
• Each NHS student is assigned a law student volunteer who will help them navigate post-high school career and/or college plans
 
What do I do?
- Meet with your assigned Buddy at least once every two weeks to work on small projects (i.e. 30-minute Zoom interview, vision board, resume, career plan/map)
- Attend optional on-campus NHS x TBP events (as permitted by COVID-19), typically the first Friday of the month, from 12-1 PM (CT). [North Community High School: 1500 James Avenue North 55411]
 
Law Student Volunteer:
Time Commitment: Minimum 50-hour commitment preferred, but not required
**volunteer hours available through MJF portal**
• Assist a North High School student in navigating post-high school life skills.
       (i.e., grade checks, college/trade preparation and planning, FAFSA application support, job search coaching,
       budgeting, and apartment searching)
• Create a career or college plan with NHS student
• Report progress and career/college notes in portal

Attorney Volunteer:
(Time commitment: intermittently or as needed)
• Meet (remotely/in-person) with NHS students who are specifically interested in legal careers.
