Old Fort Internship Application
The Old Fort at Hesperus offers part-time, unpaid internships in market farming. Students gain vital skills in all aspects of sustainable small-scale agriculture. The internship is hands-on; interns participate in the daily operations of productive, fun, and fast-paced vegetable farm operation. Interns work both in the Education Garden and farmer-in-training plot, experiencing multiple scales of production, including high tunnel, hand-worked, and tractor-cultivated (depending on the season). Additionally, interns may take on special areas of responsibility (see descriptions below).

The internship runs from February 1 through May 7 (Spring), May 10 through August 27 (Summer), or August 1 through December 1 (Fall). Students must have access to reliable transportation and/or carpools, be willing to work in all weather conditions, and be able to commit to reliably showing up for scheduled hours. Summer hours available for interns are Tuesday through Friday 8am to 2pm. No farming experience is necessary. Apply if you are curious, enthusiastic, willing, and enjoy working as part of a team.
