As part of our Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) efforts, we are aware that it might be supportive to offer RLT certification students and practitioners an opportunity to be part of an Affinity Space.
Affinity Spaces are groups in which all members are connected over a particular identity. These groups offer a private space for those within that identity to discuss issues that are relevant to them, with less risk of microaggressions, or bearing the burden of educating people who are not of that identity about that lived experience. These groups are for processing how RLT can be used specifically within your culture.
These are not ‘action’ groups, nor are they a place to air grievances or complaints. If you have constructive feedback to share with RLT leadership, we want to hear from you and have a designated place for you to share it.
By signing up on this form, you are opting-in to an LGBTQ+ RLT Affinity Space. This group is for anyone who self-identifies within the broad range of queer identities. Everyone in this group has the freedom to self-identify. Be part of our conversation!
You will be contacted by the Coordinator with group meeting info.
This group is open to all RLT practitioners, both in training and fully certified.
Some food for thought:
“Be label curious and complete the Klein Grid, or the Kinsey-Scale, or even your own questions from time to time. Even if you find a label that fits for you today, your sexuality – and the labels available to you to describe it – are constantly evolving” (Julia Shaw – “Bi”, Edinburgh 2022)
“Identities represent a crucial lens through which we understand the world and how we are understood as we move through that world. Engaging in location of self can, thus, be a vital practice for building a therapeutic alliance with our clients.” (Lucie Fielding – “Trans Sex”, New York 2021)
