Thank you for your interest in running for a seat on the Nicollet Island-East Bank Neighborhood Association board.

As per our bylaws, to be eligible to be a director you must be a member of NIEBNA.

A member is an (1) individual whose primary residence is within the Neighborhood and who, at a meeting of the Association, can produce upon request a Minnesota driver’s license, Minnesota identification card, or some form of residency verification that indicates the individual resides within the Neighborhood; or (2) any one representative of a property or business owned or operated within the Neighborhood and who, at a meeting of the Association can produce upon request proof of representation of such a business or property. An individual who meets either of these Membership criteria but lacks the required documentation may vote at a meeting of the Association if a Member who has the required documentation vouches for the individual.

The NIEBNA Board Position Description lists responsibilities of board members. Here’s an overview:

●    Director terms are for two years.
●    Directors shall attend all meetings of the Board of Directors and the Quarterly Membership meetings.
●    Directors are encouraged to participate in a committee, as in effect from time to time.

The NIEBNA board is comprised of up to fifteen (15) directors with staggered terms. Four (4) of these directors are elected by the board to serve as officers (President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary) at the first meeting of the newly convened board. Officers serve for one year.

Directors can serve up to six (6) total years; subsequently they must remain off the board for one year before eligible to run again.
