Thank you for your interest in the First Generation Professionals of Milwaukee Mentorship Program. The purpose of the FGPM Mentorship Program is to create an environment that encourages open communication between an established mentor and a first generation professional mentee, to result in meaningful exchange of information, advice, and feedback, with the goal of personal and professional success.
The Goals of the Mentorship Program are to:
- Cultivate meaningful mentor-mentee relationships
- Encourage respectful cross-generational sharing of professional advice, expertise, and professional perspective
- Equal commitment from both mentors and mentees
- Equal benefit to both mentors and mentees
Commitment Details: We anticipate one (1) meeting of the pairings per month, with additional connection as best works for both mentor and mentee. In order for the Program to be successful, we will request consistent, honest feedback from both mentor and mentee on the adequacy and compatibility of the pairing. Pairings will meet for a period of one (1) year, unless they choose to continue outside of the Program. From there, a new pairing may be requested.
Program Timing: The FGPM Mentorship Program will accept mentor and mentee applications on a continuous basis. To make a pairing, we will first gather interest in the industries listed below until there is a sustainable interest to support future matches. From there, the industry will be open for rolling applications, with mentorship matches made as soon as there is a pairing available. This staggered approach will allow FGPM to ensure we have ample meaningful mentorship opportunities for both mentees and mentors, in their chosen fields, in a timely manner.
New industries will be added upon demonstrated interest from our membership and your input is essential to direct our focus. Please provide your industry in the response below. Further, we invite you to participate in the Program by selecting General Corporate until your industry is available.
FGPM is currently seeking mentors/mentees in the following specializations:
- General Corporate (business or corporate life generally, common corporate questions)
- Law
- Interior Design
