ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES for Youth Volunteers (Current Sophomores to 17yrs.):
- Volunteers are expected to represent Sophia Chadda for Bernards Township Committee, and to carry out volunteer tasks in such a manner that will reflect respect for self, others, and the community.
- Youth Volunteers may help with event set up, staffing, and/or break down for the campaign at community events, fundraisers, meet & greets, or meetings. Event tasks include: helping with set up, greeting guests, managing guest sign in, maintaining refreshments, and helping with clean up.
- Youth Volunteers may help distribute campaign materials at events or door-to-door with an adult.
- Youth volunteers may canvass door-to-door with an adult.
- Youth Volunteers may help to prepare materials for events and canvassing with an adult.
- Youth volunteers are expected to maintain a positive school attendance record. If a volunteer is absent from school, he/she will not be permitted to attend volunteer activities that afternoon or evening.
- Youth Volunteers will report to their confirmed volunteer activities on time, and will call ahead if they are unable to attend or late.
- Youth Volunteers will manage their own transportation to and from volunteer activities.
- If your school allows political campaign volunteering to count toward service hours, it is the volunteer’s responsibility to bring his/ her Volunteer Service Hour paperwork to each volunteer event for a campaign staff member to complete.
- All campaign strategy is considered confidential, and all volunteers are expected to treat it as such.
- Youth Volunteers under the age of 21 will not consume alcohol or abuse any substances while volunteering, staffing campaign events or attending campaign events as a guest.
