The mission of the Fort Worth Young Warriors Basketball Club is to develop fundamentally sound basketball players on the court and citizens of high character off the court. Affiliation with the Fort Worth Young Warriors Basketball Club is an agreement to hold yourself and others to a high regard as seen through conduct and demeanor in all avenues of life. Playing basketball is a privilege that the Young Warriors Basketball Club will not dishonor.  All coaches and players who are members of the Fort Worth Young Warriors understand playing basketball demands tremendous commitment and dedication to the game and their team. Likewise, parents make great commitment and sacrifice for the children to play with the team.
As Fort Worth Young Warriors Basketball Club coaches, players, and parents, we understand and agree to follow the contract. Our advisory board has voted and approved the following document:
1. Players will treat officials and opponents with dignity and respect. *

2. Players, regardless of ability and/or playing time, are equal members of the team. Each and every player will treat all teammates with acceptance, respect, and kindness. *

3. Players will give maximum effort and maximum enthusiasm in practice and games. *

4. Attendance at all practices, team meetings, and games is required. While injured players may be unable to play, they are still expected to arrive on time, listen to coaches, encourage teammates, and assist the team. If you do not attend practice, then playing time is not guaranteed. *

5. In rare situations, players may be excused from games and/or practices. When this occurs, players are responsible for informing the coach of the emergency through a phone call or meeting at the earliest possible time. *

6. Unexcused absences are defined as absences in which the coach was not informed in the manner described above. An unexcused absence from practice and/or game may result in reduced playing time or other consequences as deemed appropriate. *

7. Players are to be on time for all practices and games. Tardiness will have repercussions. *

8. Players are expected to seek understanding and resolution with coaches and teammates when questions or problems arise. *

9. Players will conduct their personal lives in a respectable manner that honors themselves and the organization. This includes: school performances, self-respect, healthy behaviors and social responsibility. *

10. Players must maintain a 2.5 GPA in order to continue to participate. Some tournaments require participants to submit grade sheets. Maintaining this GPA will also help with college recruitment. Failure to maintain this GPA will affect the player’s eligibility. If a student is in need of academic assistance, our staff is available. *

11. Players must purchase a uniform prior to the first scheduled game. Jerseys that are ripped or torn must be replaced. *

Once a player is selected for a team, that player must remain on that roster for the duration of the season. Any request to move to a different team must first be in writing to our club president who will consult with our Board of Advisors in regards to the request before making a final decision. *

12. Failure to adhere to these guidelines will have the participants’ status as a member of the Fort Worth Young Warriors re-evaluated. *

13. Parents will treat players, coaches, opponents, and officials, whether affiliated with the Fort Worth Young Warriors Basketball Club or otherwise, with respect and dignity through their attitude, words, and actions. *

14. Parents will refrain from making derogatory comments to referees at any time. *

15. Parent involvement in their player’s life is encouraged and valued within proper context. The coaching of basketball during practices and games is reserved for coaches on the Fort Worth Young Warriors staff. Parents agree to refrain from coaching and directing their child, or other players, during games and practices, unless otherwise requested by a coach. *

16. Parents will discuss any player and/or team concerns directly with their player’s Head Coach (Note: these discussions will not take place right before or after a game. The coach is not obligated to conduct the meeting at the aforementioned time. A meeting will need to be scheduled with their player’s Head Coach to address concerns. If any issue/concern is unresolved, the parent may then bring to the attention of club president. During the meeting, playing time and comparisons to other players will not be topics of discussion). *

17. Parents will ensure their player arrives on time to all practices and games. *

18. Parents will ensure their player is in attendance to all practices and games. *

19. Attendance at all practices, team meetings, and games are required for the players. In the event a player must be absent, parents will ensure their player notifies the Head Coach verbally or in person as soon as possible prior to absence. *

20. Parents will support coaches and encourage their athlete to do the same. *

If you have any concerns about coaching misconduct, please send a written report to our club president as soon as possible. *

21. Team dues must be paid on time. If parents do not pay dues on time, the player will be removed from the program. *

22. Team dues must be paid via PayPal or cash app. Cash, checks, or any other method of payment is not accepted. *

The Fort Worth Young Warriors reserve to right to pursue the non-payment of dues which may also result in legal action. *

Unless a player is hurt during participation with the Fort Worth Young Warriors or a player is dismissed from the program, payment of fees must still be submitted to our program the entire length of the season upon completion of this player contract and attendance at first practice *
Please only fill out the following section if you are a coach.
23. Coaches are responsible to abide by the rules of conduct embodied in this document. Coaches are encouraged to take the moral undercurrents of integrity, responsibility, respect for self and others, discipline, and leadership within the contract into all areas of life.
24. Coaches will carry themselves in a professional manner at practices and games.
25. Coaches will balance the training of the key elements of individual growth, social development, and the acquisition of basketball knowledge and skills while working with individual players and the team as a whole.
26. Coaches will train players to abide by the rules of the game and exhibit good sportsmanship.
27. Coaches will promote a positive atmosphere in all Fort Worth Young Warriors basketball activities.
28. Coaches will devote the appropriate time and skill necessary for the good of the team.
Coaches will arrive at practice in a timely manner and be in attendance for all scheduled games. If a coach is unable to attend, they will notify their assistant coach as well as their parents. In an emergency, please contact the club president.
Clear selection
29. Coaches will challenge every player in the program to be the best they can be.
30. The coaching staff’s main goal is to get each player to play to their full potential on and off the court and put each player in a position to help the team to be successful.
31. Coaches chief goals are to develop and expose each player’s potential, enable each player to capitalize on and function out of their full potential, and craft each player’s individual role that bring success to themselves and their team.
32. Coaches will treat players, parents, officials, opponents, Fort Worth Young Warriors Basketball Club, and the sport of basketball with respect.
33. Coaches will maintain an open-line of communication with their parents and players.
34. Coaches will conduct their personal lives in a manner that brings honor to themselves and Fort Worth Young Warriors. This includes: self-respect, healthy behaviors, and social responsibility. As a representative of this organization, coaches’ social media are closely followed by members of our organization, both parents and players, and members of the community. Coaches’ social media pages will not contain anything that would detrimental to the reputation of the Fort Worth Young Warriors.
35. Failure to adhere to these guidelines will have the Coach’s status with Fort Worth Young Warriors re-evaluated. Any verified complaints will have your status with the Fort Worth Young Warriors re-evaluated as well.
36. Playing time is individually weighted and determined for each player based on the combined evaluation of effort, commitment, and skill shown in practice and by attendance to practices and other Young Warrior sponsored events (games, meetings, and conditioning/skill development opportunities). *

37. Playing time decisions are an attempt to enable players to foster the success of the team; however, this is a non-equal playing environment. In select basketball, playing time is not guaranteed. *

38. The Fort Worth Young Warriors Basketball Club is a developmental organization and only those who are prepared for tournament competition will play significant minutes during games. *

39. Players who are concerned with playing time need to schedule a time to discuss this with the coaches privately. *

Failure to adhere to these guidelines will result in a re-evaluation of the participants’ status as a member of the Fort Worth Young Warriors.
