Our 2021 Summer theme is "CommUNITY--Stronger Together". Through this vision, our goal is to forge a stronger commUNITY of AAPI youth by converging our power, resources, and knowledge together.

[WHO CAN APPLY?]
This online application is for DC youth who are interested in participating in our summer hybrid (virtual with in-person opportunities) programs. Youth who were in grades 5-12 during the 2020-2021 school year are eligible to apply for the AALEAD Summer Program.

Summer Program Information/Overview
This form serves as your application to the AALEAD Summer program. This form should be completed by parents/guardians and will take you up to 15 minutes to complete. Please answer all questions fully.

[PROGRAM DESCRIPTION]
AALEAD Summer Programs develop youth skills for resilience and wellness through interactive, culturally-responsive curriculum, guest workshops, and community-impact project activities. Our focus will be in the following three outcome areas: (1) belonging & membership, (2) mental health, and (3) responsibility/autonomy.

[PROGRAM OBJECTIVES]
During the AALEAD summer program youth will work towards the following objectives:
(1) Develop hard and soft skills for resilience and wellness including: knowledge about mental health, positive coping strategies and skills, resources to respond to mental health needs
(2) Understand mental health and wellness through Asian-American and cross-racial lens.
(3) Identify connections among self, community and national narratives around the AAPI experience, focusing on how current AAPI events impact youth.
(4) Lead the completion and presentation of a project addressing/educating youth about AAPI mental health, safety, and/or wellness, including actions youth can take in their community.
