Eligibility
SIU Carbondale faculty (TT or NTT) on the Carbondale or Springfield campuses may apply individually or as a team.

Evaluation Criteria
1. Feasibility of the applicant implementing the open textbook within the project’s timeframe.
2. The likelihood the textbook will be used in future semesters and/or generalizability of the textbook to other courses at the university.
3. Potential cost savings for students.
4. A plan for assessment of the textbook and course outcomes.

Review Process
Proposals will be reviewed by members of an Open Textbook Faculty Incentive Program jury.

Deadline
The submission deadline is September 13, 2024. Projects are expected to be completed, and the open textbook must be used in a course, by the following academic semester (Spring 2025).

Award notification is by September 27, 2024.

At the Completion of the Project
1. A project outcomes report must be submitted at the end of the first semester in which you use the open textbook (Fall 2024 or Spring 2025).
2. You agree to be featured on the SIU Carbondale OER web page after the completion of the first semester in which you use the open textbook.
3. Recipients must openly license the resource created or adapted with a Creative Commons license and be willing to share it in an open education repository such as OER Commons.
