Our Lady of the Assumption Parish - First Reconciliation 2024
Dear Parents,

Our Lady of the Assumption Parish (OLA) will be celebrating First Reconciliations at OLA Church at 5.30pm, 22 Nov 2024. All children in Year 2 who have been Baptised in a Catholic Church are eligible to receive this Sacrament, which is also called Confession.

Please contact Fr Michael ASAP if your child has not received the Sacrament of Baptism. Listed below are the parish requirements regarding enrolment and preparation for First Reconciliation.

PARENT INFORMATION ZOOM MEETING - PARENTS ONLY
Wed 23 Oct at 7:00 pm  (TBC)

A link will be sent to the email you provide on this enrolment form to join the Zoom Meeting. Please join the Zoom 5 minutes before the scheduled start, have your video on, surname displayed and sound on mute.

PREPARATION SESSIONS
Candidates will be required to complete one lesson (two parts) of their First Reconciliation workbook each week, for four weeks, with their parents. Candidates from the parish must hand their workbook to the parish Catechist or Fr Michael by Rehearsal at 3.30pm on Tuesday 21 Nov.

SUNDAY CATECHESIS
Our experienced parish catechist, Mrs Jill Hoenen, will be providing the opportunity for First Holy Communion lessons at 10am on Sunday mornings to help the children with their workbooks and preparing for the Sacrament.

ATTENDING SUNDAY MASS
Candidates and their Catholic parent/s are required to attend Sunday Mass, from the 26-27 Oct at least. (The "Vigil Mass" on Saturday evening is also considered a Sunday Mass.) Candidates will be provided with a form as a record of attendance. Please, ask the celebrating Priest to sign this form at the conclusion of each Mass. All Candidates are required to return this form to Fr. Michael or Jill Hoenen by rehearsal on Tuesday 21 Nov at latest.

If you are going on holidays or your children are involved in sports, etc., please take care to consider where and when you will attend Sunday Mass. Weekday Masses do not substitute for keeping the Lord's Day Holy by attending Sunday Mass. Nor should sports and such supplant the Sunday Mass.

If your child is unable to attend because of illness, simply note this on the attendance form. In this circumstance it is good to make an effort, according to the circumstances, to say some prayers at home, such as the Rosary, or watch some of that day's Mass online.

REHEARSAL
All candidates will have the opportunity to rehearse with Fr Michael at 3.30pm on Tuesday 21 Nov at Our Lady of the Assumption Church.
