The Office of International Students & Scholars (OISS) welcomes you to the University of California, Santa Barbara.  As a J-1 Exchange Visitor, it is your responsibility to maintain legal status for yourself and your J-2 Dependent family members throughout your duration of stay in the U.S.  OISS is required by the U.S. Department of State to assist you with this matter by providing an orientation program to inform you about J-1 regulations and requirements, and how to maintain your legal status in the U.S.
