Interest form an off-the-record conversation and gathering of journalists in NYC on April 1st at 4pm to discuss the state of tech reporting

After talking to many of you, we recognized a need to unite NYC-area journalists covering tech to surface the current challenges and potential opportunities. We believe that by coming together in a collaborative setting we can share insights, best practices, and challenges, ultimately elevating the impact of tech journalism. This conversation will be led by former Tow Center for Digital Journalism fellow and All Tech Is Human’s Siegel Research Fellow Sara M. Watson.

We are open to your suggestions for pressing issues, and topics may include:

- Emerging tech Coverage Challenges: Addressing the complexities of covering topics like artificial intelligence, including clear language and metaphors for public understanding, and the balance between innovation, hype, and accountability.

- Business Models and Funding: Exploring the sustainability of different business models in tech journalism, the rise of alternative tech coverage publications, and the influence of funding sources on editorial independence.

- Access Journalism: Discussing the challenges associated with access journalism in the tech industry, and its impact on constructive criticism and accountability.

This conversation will be held under Chatham House Rule to facilitate open and honest discussions. This takes place at Betaworks in Manhattan from 4-5:30pm.

Together, we work to solve tech & society's thorniest issues.
