ABOUT US:

Decarcerate Western Massachusetts is a coalition working to secure the release of incarcerated people who are most vulnerable to the ravages of the coronavirus pandemic, to amplify and respond to the needs of prisoners and their families, and to build a future without mass incarceration.

Incarceration is always a crisis. Before, during, and after COVID-19 - jails and prisons have not and do not keep the people living inside their walls safe, nor do they make our communities safer. Join us now to work in the short-term to get people out of jails and prisons during this dangerous pandemic; and to work in the long-term to reimagine our communities beyond police, prosecutors, and prisons.

We are a group that is led by abolitionist politics and believes in the importance of centering the voices and experiences of those who are currently and formerly incarcerated.

Communications - social media / press / etc.

Parole packets - making them, teaching others to make them

Fundraising - for supporting people who are incarcerated and for supporting people afterwards

Phone Zap - organizing phone zapping campaigns

Outreach / Accountability - working directly with incarcerated & formerly incarcerated people to make sure that we are led by and accountable to those most impacted
