We are extremely pleased to announce that next school year (SY2022-23) Globalize DC will again offer JAPANESE PLUS, our citywide afterschool Japanese language, culture, and career exposure program open for free to DCPS and DC charter high school students. This is a fun but intensive program that meets twice a week throughout the school year - one weekday after school (possibly virtual) and Saturday mornings and some Saturday afternoons. This will be a two-year program, so students will gain the equivalent of Japanese Level 2 proficiency in the language. We expect that students who successfully complete the Japanese Plus program will again be able to earn academic credit towards high school graduation, and will be well positioned to continue with Japanese studies in college, study abroad, and career if that is the goal. Details regarding meeting place and schedule will be decided this summer.
We will select up to 25 students. Students who will be in 9th, 10th, or 11th grade in fall 2022 are eligible to apply. 12th graders will only be considered if they have been participants in prior Globalize DC Japan programs (Japanese Tamago or Japan in DC). We are seeking students who have both the interest and the high level of commitment to fulfill the requirements of this program. You can learn more about the program at
www.japaneseplus.org.
All eligible students who complete this form will be invited to take part in a virtual information session about the Japanese Plus program and the application process. Be VERY sure to give an accurate email address and check your email periodically.
ALSO, Globalize DC does plan to offer some Japan-related programs for DC students this summer - both virtual and in-person. If you are interested in learning more and possibly participating, be sure to answer YES to that question below.
In the meantime, if you have any questions, feel free to contact Sally at

Thank you! We can't wait to get started.
