PEP Peer Educator Application
Peers Educating Peers (PEP) is devoted to providing the student body with awareness of intimate wellness (sexual misconduct, stalking, bystander intervention, interpersonal violence, etc.) and alcohol and other drug (AOD) information through peer to peer education with personalized outreach initiatives.
The vision of the program is to form a safe place among students to educate and rely on one another for support relating to intimate wellness and alcohol and other drug (AOD) information.
PEP will also be working with the Office of Health Promotions offering programming on disease&injury prevention, stress&sleep management, mental health, physical activity, and healthy eating.
Peer Educators engage the campus community in educational and awareness activities to challenge students in making informed, responsible decisions for their health and safety, as well as for the health and safety of the community. Peer Educators receive specialized training in order to provide accurate, non-judgmental information and to direct students to resources and services.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Implement campus-wide presentations and programs surrounding public health topics
• Create and distribute materials/displays for awareness, prevention, and social norm events
• Complete a minimum of two programs/events a semester
• Assist in identifying related student concerns and act as a referral to campus/community resources
• Maintain records of activities including data on students reached
• Conduct assessment activities
• Contribute to established social media platforms
• Commit 20-30 hours per semester as Peer Educator
• Attend meetings with adviser and fellow Peer Educators
• Other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to maintain privacy and respect with sensitive personal information, possess strong communication and organizational skills and basic computer skills, demonstrate ability to work well in a team, and desire to do presentations and support others.
ELIGIBILITY
To be a peer educator you must:
1. Be an enrolled student
2. Have a GPA of 2.5 or above
3. Complete the application process including an interview
4. Able to complete all required training
