The Politics of Race, Immigration, and Ethnicity Consortium at Michigan State University

Dear Scholars of Race, Ethnic, and State Politics,

The Minority Politics Lab in the Department of Political Science at Michigan State University is pleased to announce that we will be hosting a meeting of the Politics of Race, Immigration, and Ethnicity Consortium (PRIEC) meeting on Friday, May 10, 2024.  The event will be hosted in collaboration with the College of Social Science at MSU.

We would love to have you join us to share your work and connect with others working on racial and ethnic politics.  We hope to have a group of presentations on the intersection of state politics and race and ethnicity, so we especially encourage submissions in this area!

The schedule:

On Thursday, May 9, 2024, we will kick off with a pre-conference reception to connect, network, and meet other scholars. The conference will take place all day on Friday, May 10, and will be followed with a closing reception.

More about PRIEC:

This conference seeks to facilitate meaningful collaboration between a diverse set of scholars on the politics of race, immigration, and ethnicity. In alignment with our commitment to amplifying voices from underrepresented populations, PRIEC does not require registration or membership fees. You can learn more about the mission of PRIEC here

How to apply:

If you are interested in joining us for the day (either to just attend or also to present your work), please use this google form below no later than Friday, March 22, 2024. We aim to notify presentation acceptances by early April.

Travel Information and other details:

For those in need of hotel accommodations, we have reserved a block of rooms at the Graduate East Lansing, where rooms are available at a discounted rate of $139 (without taxes). This conference hotel is conveniently located near campus and also two blocks from the Michigan Flyer airport shuttle that regularly runs between the Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW) and Downtown East Lansing. For those traveling from Chicago, do note that there is a once daily direct train to East Lansing via Amtrak. This stop is also very near to campus and hotel accommodations.  For those local to Michigan, we will have on campus parking passes available for both conference days.

We look forward to seeing you in May!

Best,

Nazita Lajevardi, Eric Gonzalez Juenke, Kelsey Osborne-Garth, and Jennifer Wolak
