RSVP: Faith and Astrophysics Breakfast Seminar
4 Nov 2022, 7:30-9:00AM | Bradley Study Center, 104 Faculty Street, Blacksburg

Dr. Daniel Fabrycky, Associate Professor of Astrophysics at the University of Chicago, will share how his Christian faith informs his understanding of the two biggest ideas in the field of astrophysics right now, as well as how to have meaningful conversations with people who understand them differently.

In his words, "Probably the two biggest ideas in the field of astrophysics right now are the origin and evolution of the universe (cosmology) and whether the universe hosts life aside from Earth (especially, on exoplanets). I will explain how my Christian beliefs have influenced my thoughts on these open questions. I know other believers in my field who reach quite different (tentative) conclusions, and I invite discussion on how that’s possible. Seeing the variety of faithful engagement with our individual academic questions will help carve out space for believers at secular institutions."
