For a rollup, an acceptable launch set up is one where the Abacus Works team, your team, and the rollup provider each operate a validator. It is simple to operate and merely requires RPC access for your rollup.
For an L1, a preferred launch set up is one where validators from your existing set are recruited into the set for Hyperlane, ideally where they represent a plurality of delegated stake. An acceptable set up includes >3 of your existing validators in addition to Abacus Works.
In either case, operation of a validator is very lightweight, and will only require you have access to an RPC endpoint for your chain or rollup, and the ability to post signatures to a highly available database
