LoveLetters2SJ is growing our team!
As a division of San Jose Strong's South Bay Research Team, we are dedicated to exploring, promoting and uplifting community voices within the creative culture of San Jose. Our Zine, “Love Letters to San Jose" features love letters, poems, artwork, photography, and other forms of creativity from all residents of the Bay Area to San Jose!
We are looking to begin our second Issue of Love Letters to San Jose, as well as plan for a Love Letters Exhibition in partnership with More Mas Marami for their summer festival. A current production cycle includes meeting with artists and creatives, conducting interviews, editing and designing submissions and for posting, and formatting our overall project. We have weekly virtual meetings (Mondays 7:30) to discuss project-oriented goals and delegate roles, as well as in-person meet-ups at various events throughout the city.
We ask that you commit ~3 hours a week for at least one production cycle (usually~5 months). This is a volunteer position to built a more vibrant city!
Potential Roles:
Operations Manager
♡ Manage submissions, timelines, and putting together a zine that showcases the art, culture, and appreciation in San Jose!
♡ Communication with San Jose Strong!
Editorial Production
♡ Creating Google Forms to collect submissions
♡ Organizing files through grouping and folders
♡ Adjusting text, grammar, style and content consistency in our interview
Marketing & Outreach
♡ Social media management and digital marketing
♡ Attends events to make connections, schedule interviews
♡ Weekly posts on Instagram, using content from Design Team
Design Team
♡ Graphic design, illustration, etc.
♡ Weekly designs using submission material for social media across platforms (ex: design spreads based on a poem or artwork)
♡ Assemble and design print issues
Web Design Coordinator
♡ Develop our website
♡ Upload our zine archives onto website
Exhibition committee
♡ Help put together an exhibit highlighting San Jose creativity.
♡ The festival will run in July :)
Other
♡ Attend events, brainstorm ideas, network with San Jose residents/groups
♡ Anything we didn't list that you think would be helpful!
