Stonewall Action Guide - LA City Council
All politics is local.  The more we get involved in local issues, the more our council members hear from us, the better off we all are.  Below is your Stonewall Instruction Guide on how to find out about issues being dealt with in LA City Hall (Identify the Council File Number) and how to give written public comment, telephonic comment, or appear in person.  Also with this form you can let Stonewall know if you would like our support on a local issue happening in LA City Hall.

What and where do I find the LA City Council File Number?

1st.  Go to this City of Los Angeles web-site LA City Clerk Connect and enter the search terms you are looking for.  The sample we will use here is "Morris Kight" which is one of the founders of the LGBTQ Movement in Los Angeles to designate his home as an Historical Cultural Landmark.  Now go search for your issue and find the correct Counsel number.  It should look like XX-XXXXX.

What are your current thoughts about this Council File matter?
Are you looking for Stonewall Democratic Club to take action on this council file?  (Note:  Just because you ask, doesn't mean it will happen.  We are all volunteers with limited bandwidth.  Priority of review will be given to members of Stonewall who are in good standing.)  Check all that apply.
Do you know when the next hearing date is to take place and when is it?  Once you search out the Council File Number, in this case 20-1341, you can click on the link and it will give you the entire history of that Council File and it should indicate the next date.  In this case, there is no future date we are aware of.
Did you know you can subscribe to updates about that Council File?  In the top of that window towards the middle there is a little envelope which you can click on to subscribe to any updates.  So if you subscribe to 20-1431, then you will be notified by email as to the next hearing date.  Do you understand how to subscribe?

Did you know you could call in on the day City Council hears the file and give a public comment?  This is very very tough to get picked to speak.  Go to this web-site https://lacity.primegov.com/Portal/Meeting?meetingTemplateId=109516 on the day of the meeting.  The instructions will be there how to phone in pubic comment.  You also have the option to attend the meeting in person. Will you attend?
