2025 Leadership Application 

Apply to join this 10-month Leadership Program for young adults (ages 22-35) with developmental disabilities in exploring how to be a leader, offered by WIHD and Volunteer New York! The program provides accommodations for various learning needs and requires participants to apply and be accepted into the program. Learn through interactive activities what it means to be a leader. LEADERSHIP topics include:  Goal Setting, Self-Awareness, Social Awareness, Self- Management, Communication Skills, Teamwork, and Building Relationships.  You will participate alongside a small group of 8-12 peers that will help you to build community while developing important leadership skills for life.  

Schedule:   This will be in-person, in Westchester NY, once a month Sept 2025- June 2026- Dates and times to be determined, with your input below. No cost to participants. We ask everyone to commit to attending all sessions in order to receive the full benefit of the program.

Who should apply?  This program provides accommodations for young adults who have a developmental disability with self-determination and have personal goals to develop leadership skills with a growth mindset and a willingness to share with and support peers in this shared journey. 

This application can be filled out in writing below or in a meeting on zoom. Select your preferred format below and we will reach out to those who select a meeting to set up an appointment. 

Participants can attend alone or with your support person if accommodations are needed. Participant's responsible for their own transportation arrangements and arranging their support person.
