MIC RSVP: Scot Cru
We are pleased to be able to host a few meet-and-greets with industry professionals who will be passing through Austin. These events are each designed to give y’all the opportunity to engage in an informal Q&A session with industry professionals (usually alums).

Please indicate below if you are believe you are available and would like to attend a Q and A with Scot Cru on February 20th from 12:30-1:45pm. This MIC will be in-person in DMC 5.208 and on Zoom. Zoom links will be sent out the day of the event.

Scot Cru Bio:

Scot Cru is a television and media executive with more than 25 years experience.  His most recent role was to serve as Executive Vice President, Global Formats and Unscripted Content at MGM Studios where he was responsible for the distribution of MGM formats worldwide and launched MGM UK that revived the MGM format Gladiators which premiered to record ratings on BBC1.  Previously Cru was President, GRB Studios. Cru was responsible for GRB’s Emmy award winning franchise, Intervention and Untold Stories of the ER with TLC. Prior to joining GRB Cru conceived, produced and distributed a digital passion project Dinner with Don, a tribute to the late Hollywood icon Don Rickles where Rickles sat with Hollywood luminaries including Vince Vaughn, Robert De Niro, Martin Scorsese, Amy Poheler, Paul Rudd and others.

For the previous fifteen years Cru was the Executive Vice President, International for United Artist Media Group (Mark Burnett Productions).  In his role Cru was responsible for all international business for UAMG.  He oversaw distribution and international production of UAMG shows and formats, including such powerhouse and award-winning shows as The Bible, The Apprentice and Are you Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?.  Highlights of Cru’s work include The Apprentice format produced in over 27 countries, Are you Smarter Than a Fifth Grader? produced in over 57 territories around the world, and The Bible series distributed in more than 170 territories and viewed by more than 100 million people worldwide. Cru’s responsibilities also covered the expansion of the UAMG brand globally. Cru was responsible for the creation of international UAMG affiliate production companies, which have included those in France, Singapore and the United Kingdom.  He created strategic partnerships with leading international broadcasters to create content, including those leading to global partnerships including a deal to produce UAMG’s Generation Gap with Televisa. 

Prior to joining UAMG, Cru was the Director of Special Projects at Sony Pictures Television International, where he spearheaded the production efforts of Sony’s international channels including the Eco-Challenge for AXN. Before Sony, Cru was the Director of Sales for Turner Broadcasting International, where his responsibilities included the cable licensing rights throughout the Caribbean for all the Turner networks including CNN, CNN en Espanol, TNT and The Cartoon Network.
