Career & Technical Education  - Local Needs Assessment 2020
The "Strengthening Career and Technical Education for the 21st Century Act", also known as Perkins V Act, becomes effective on July 1, 2020. The Perkins V Act outlines essential components that must be integrated into career and technical education (CTE) programs in school districts across the nation. The purpose of the Perkins V Act is to ensure that all students have equitable access to quality career and technical education programs that focus on both academic and technical skills students will need to succeed in the 21st Century workplace.

The Comprehensive Local Needs Assessment (CLNA) is a tool that the school district will use to guide the development, implementation and assessment of the following essential components of Perkins V. Information and data compiled in the CLNA will help to facilitate continuous improvement within CTE programs, increase academic proficiency in literacy, science and math and elevate technical skill attainment among all students.

The six essential components of the Perkins V Act are listed below.

1. Performance on federal accountability indicators
2. Alignment to the labor market needs
3. Scope, size and quality of programs offered
4. Progress toward implementing programs and programs of study
5. Recruitment, retention, and training of faculty and staff
6. Progress toward improving access and equity

The Springdale Public School District is seeking input from stakeholders including parents, students, business/industry, educators and the community on topics relating to the six essential components of the 2020 Comprehensive Local Needs Assessment.
