Commencement Balloon Orders Are Closed!!

Use this form to request balloons for the period of 4/29/24 - 5/5/24. Delivery is not available on Sunday, 5/5.

Due to the manufacturer printing process being down, we have a very limited number of Block M balloons available, and cannot guarantee that we will be able to include them in every order. We will do our best to spread what we have out into as many orders as possible, and will substitute maize and blue circular balloons or stars when needed.

Some limits are in place - The maximum number of balloons available for any individual order is 48.

SORC is staffed entirely by students. During the week of Commencement activities, we have limited staffing resources available. In light of this, some limits on deliveries, quantity, and color are necessary. 

  • Delivery times
    • You will be asked to choose a 2-hour delivery window. Someone needs to be at the venue and available to accept the delivery during that entire window.
    • We broaden our available delivery times for Commencement Week only. Our balloons can usually last overnight or even a few days in a temperature controlled environment, so if you need to order them ahead to fit the delivery into our available windows you can. While the vast majority of our balloons will last that long, we are not responsible for popped or deflated balloons if you choose to do this.
      • Curbside Pickup or Regular Pickup available only for 4/29 and 4/30.
      • Delivery is available between 9AM-5PM on 5/1, 5/2, and 5/3
      • Delivery is available between 9AM-12PM on Saturday, 5/4.
      • We do not offer delivery on Sunday, 5/5.
  • Delivery locations
    • Because of traffic conditions throughout the week, we are not able to deliver to local hotels and conference facilities as we have done in the past.
    • Delivery is available on Central Campus, North Campus, and within 1/2 mile of Central Campus.
  • Colors
    • There is a special request box for colors other than maize and blue, but we cannot guarantee special requests.
    • We no longer offer latex balloons.
    • We are not able to offer customization, such as requests to make all Hail Yeah bouquets consist of 2 blue stars and 1 yellow Block M. All bouquets will be a mixture of maize and blue, but there might be some variation of how many blue, how many yellow.
  • Quantity
    • The maximum number of balloons available for any individual order is 48.
    • The form might allow you to request more, but you will receive an email back from one of our Coordinators, asking you to pare down to 48 or fewer.
    • Please help speed up the confirmation process by choosing no more than 48 balloons in your order.

 

The deadline to submit a request for Commencement week is Friday, April 19.

  • In addition to the extensive prep work needed to accommodate almost 100 deliveries during Commencement Week, SORC students need to focus on exams during the weeks of April 22-26 and April 29-May 2.

This is a large bouquet, not recommended for small spaces. Best suited for spaces with high ceilings. Special requests
As noted at the beginning of this form, some limits on quantity, delivery time, and colors are in place during Commencement week. If you have a request for special colors, please describe it here. One of our Student Balloon Coordinators (SBCs) will check our inventory and resources and let you know if we can accommodate your request.

Payment
  • SORC does not accept cash or check for any services.
    • Payment must be made via shortcode for department or student organization events.
    • For private orders, we can provide instructions on how to pay via credit card.
  • Accepting a Student Coordinator's written proposal constitutes financial obligation to SORC.
    • Once mutual agreement is reached, you remain financially obligated even if your event is canceled.
    • For payment by shortcode: An SBC will send you an estimate of the charges, allow you to make alterations if needed, and upon mutual agreement, the contract is then final. Our Business Office will process the transfer within 15 days of when we complete the order. Generally speaking, you can expect to see these charges on your May financial statement.
    • For payment by credit card: An SBC will send you an estimate of the charges, allow you to make alterations if needed, and ask for you to respond. After you agree to the terms, they will send you instructions on how to pay via credit card through University of Michigan Shared Services. We are not able to make changes to your order after you submit payment. If you change your mind, please email back within 24 hours so we can discontinue prep work.
