Please fill out this form to state your interest in volunteering for 2021 Annual BC Bat Count initiative in the Victoria area (CRD region) running June 1 to August 31. Bat Counters need to commit to a minimum 4 hours of volunteering over the summer. Various roost count locations will become available and we will contact folks who signed up here to fill those roles. We are counting bats...at a distance, and we can't wait to have you on board!
Volunteering will be at dusk, and having access to your own transportation is required for most sites, which can be anywhere from Sooke to Sidney.
The two primary volunteer roles are:
1. Team Leader - coordinating other volunteers at a particular roost location, entering count data, communicating with Bat Coordinator (previous bat count experience is preferred - 8 hrs total commitment)
2. Counter - attending 4 counts (1 hour each, 4 hours total commitment).
We will ensure appropriate safety protocols to keep all volunteers healthy :)
Youth/Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
