Active Birmingham is a new digital platform created by a partnership between Birmingham City Council, Canal & River Trust, Sport Birmingham and The Active Wellbeing Society. Designed to get local people moving, the activity finder will showcase as many as possible of the amazing opportunities to get more active across Greater Birmingham. Examples include group sessions in leisure centres, health walks in parks, and local activities right on people’s doorsteps.
The platform uses open data (part of Sport England's OpenActive initiative). This is an innovative new way for activity providers to automatically share their up to date activity timetable information with campaigns like
Every Body Moves, This Girl Can, Classfinder and more; without masses of duplicate forms to fill in or spreadsheets to send.
Please follow the steps in this form, which will guide you on the best next steps based on your existing setup.
Why open your data? - Opening data in short means opening your activities up to new audiences. The goal is to support organisations like yours to engage more people to be more active. Once your data is open, your activities will be listed for free on Active Birmingham, as well as other consumer facing apps, campaigns and websites - thereby driving traffic to your activities with the aim of increasing bookings and participation.
