2022-2023 HDS Block Scheduling
High Desert School is proposing a change to the 7/8th schedule for the 2022-2023 school year to block scheduling. Grades K-6 have always worked in a block period of time and it is referred to as an uninterrupted instructional block. Grades 7-8 are proposing a change to a block schedule for next year. Use of a block period of time for instruction does the following: promotes cooperative learning, increases quality time with students, helps students focus on specific topics each day, supports implementation of the new CTE lab, supports time for Science Lab experiments, and supports time for classroom-based interventions for all students.
