The following volunteer opportunities are needed for the day of the event.
Track Transport - 3 parents are needed to meet the Cubmaster at the storage unit (Old Mill Bottom Road) at 9am to pick up track and transport to Cape Elem. The same crew will assist in transporting the track back to the storage unit after the event.
Track Setup / Installation / Tear Down - 3 parents are needed to construct, erect, level, and clean the Pinewood Derby Track. The same crew will assist in tearing down and packing up the track after the event. A track setup manager is needed. Setup will take place beginning 9:30am until 11:45am.
Car Inspection Station - 5 parents are needed to manage the various car inspection steps, including data entry into the computer software and organizing the race cars for heat racing. One station manager is needed. Car Inspection Station volunteers are to arrive at 10:30am for station setup and job training. Inspection will take place between 11am - 12 noon. No cars will be accepted before 11am or after 12 noon.
Pit Table - 2 parents are needed to run and operate the Pit Table. Pit table is available for those cars who do not pass inspection or become disabled during the race. Only adults will operate the pit table. Parent volunteers for this should have the ability to provide basic assistance for cars. Some very basic tools will be available, but please bring some basic tools to assist.
Race Operations - 1-2 parents may be needed for race operations, including managing cars during and in between heat races. If Boy Scout volunteers become available, parent volunteers will be released to watch the race.
Room Setup & Tear Down - 3-4 parents are needed to help set up and clean up the venue, including moving tables.
