Students must meet the following qualifications in order to be considered for an ALPHA class:

Students Currently Enrolled in the ALPHA Class:

80 or above final grade average in the ALPHA class they are currently enrolled in and requesting again for the 2023-2024 school year

Students Not Currently Enrolled in the ALPHA Class:

90 or above final grade average in requested class along with meeting success criteria (Scoring on grade level on the following indicators: FY23 Georgia Milestones Assessment (3 or Higher for ELA and Math), FY23 Final Exam Score of 85 or Higher for Science and Social Studies, Lexile score, STAR Math score, STAR Reading score)

Students who transfer to Monroe County Middle School must meet the criteria stated above using a district approved assessment. Students may be placed in an ALPHA class if space is available.

Students Currently Enrolled in the ALPHA Program:

Student was enrolled during the 2022-2023 school year in the ALPHA class and scored below an 80 yearly average, but scored on grade level on the Georgia Milestones Exam (3 or Higher for ELA and Math), scored 85 or Higher on the FY23 Final Exam for Science and Social Studies or STAR Reading and/or STAR Math assessments
There is space availability in the ALPHA class being requested

Students Not Currently Enrolled in the ALPHA Program:

Student maintained a final grade average of 90 or above in the subject in which they are requesting ALPHA entrance and scored a minimum of 2 on the Georgia Milestones Exam (for ELA and Math), scored 80 or Higher on the FY23 Final Exam for Science and Social Studies or STAR Reading and/or STAR Math assessments
Student maintained a final grade average between 85-89 and scored on grade level on the Georgia Milestones Exam (3 or Higher for ELA and Math), scored 85 or Higher on the FY23 Final Exam for Science and Social Studies or STAR Reading and/or STAR Math assessments
A sliding scale of highest final grade averages first, along with success criteria will be used for ALPHA Probationary placement

-Lexile Scores (minimum of 925)

-STAR Math Scores (minimum grade equivalency of 5.6)

-FY23 Milestones Scores (minimum score of Level 3)

-Teacher Recommendation (if needed)

**Gifted Students (Project SOAR) will automatically be placed in ALPHA content areas of giftedness as determined by their gifted testing scores unless otherwise indicated in this application.
