The Babies With Books team is delighted to share with you our process guide on how to develop a NICU reading program.
We provide resources on how to develop a reading program, perspectives on our experiences, potential community resources, and other ideas for you to consider as you develop your NICU reading program.
The guide:
-Is highly adaptable to each NICU’s individual needs. Describes multiple approaches to program structure and range of program features (ex. admit reading packets, books rounds) and varying budgets
-Details the learnings from 3.5 years of program development at Randall Children’s Hospital’s reading program that is easy and fun for both families and staff
-Provides templated, modifiable, user-friendly informational resources for both families and staff on how and why to read in the NICU
-Includes book lists with titles in 12+ languages, free and downloadable reading materials, and books written by or representing Black, Indigenous, & People of Color (BIPOC)
NICU reading programs are easy and fun for both families and staff and will support infants and families during and after their NICU hospitalization!
