Dear Parents & Carers,

All children who attend English Martyrs Early Years classes will have an online Learning Journey which records photos, observations and comments, in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum. This builds up a record of your child's experiences during their time with us which you can access at any time.

We will be using Tapestry, a piece of educational software which is hosted in the UK on secure servers. These dedicated servers conform to very high security standards and are closely monitored. File names are encoded for uploaded videos and images, making Tapestry a safe, secure online Learning Journey assessment tool.

The benefits to yourselves as parents from Tapestry being online means you will have secure access to your child's Learning Journey via a website which you log into using a unique user ID and password. Please note each parent will only have access to their own child's Learning Journey. You will receive an email telling you when a new observation or piece of work is available for you to view. This will enable you to follow your child's individual progress closely and you can reflect upon achievements with your child. Staff will reference your child's learning to the Early Years profile so you will know which area of learning your child is making progress in and the relevant age band they were working in for that activity.

In addition to viewing our contributions, we encourage you to add to it by uploading your own photos and comments, so that we as a staff find out about activities your child really enjoyed and the learning that is taking place at home. You can also leave your own comments on observations we have made.

In order for your child's Learning Journey to be created, please give us permission by completing the attached form. Please also provide your email address and we will set up an account enabling you to access your child's Learning Journey via the secure Tapestry website. You will receive a link by email to complete the registration process on Tapestry. Please action this within one week as the link will expire for security reasons.

If you not have access to email, please still complete the permission form so that we can create an online Learning Journey and it will be possible for us to provide print outs if requested.

E-safety is extremely important to us at English Martyrs, therefore we also ask you to agree with our guidelines.
