Since its introduction in the 1950’s, the hummingbird feeder has been a staple of most backyard/front yard gardens in the United States. However, hummingbird feeders have intensive care routines, requiring them to be cleaned every day in hot weather and once every 2-3 days in colder weather. Due to the lack of proper feeder care, sugar in the solution ferments in about 3-4 days, causing feeders to harbor fungi and bacteria that are dangerous for hummingbirds.
