Bas Eickhout studied Chemistry and Environmental Science at Radboud University in Nijmegen. After his studies, he worked for the RIVM and the Environmental Assessment Agency (PBL). He is a co-author of the 2007 IPCC report on climate change, for which the organization received the Nobel Peace Prize together with Al Gore. Since 2009, he has been a member of the European Parliament, specializing in climate, (bio)energy and sustainable agriculture policy.
